So, the question is..."Why is it so difficult to fit a 44 way drive externally when all I have to do is un-plug my hard drive?"

Simple enough question, however read on and view the easy to understand pictures below, this explains why......

We were working on a cost effective solution Board, as at June 30th 2004, however none has been found to date Oct 7th 2009

44 way header with pins

Some folks would see it as simply adding in 44 male mins into the 44 way female header and that's all that is required
However, if you study the pictures (below) you will see the dynamics of the cable and exactly why this will not work
Mini IDE Pin outs
Above is the standard pin-out for a 44 way cable please note where pin 1 and pin 2 are located.

why it is so
Note: in the picture "above", irrespective of which side the cable enters, it always results in
pin 1 going to wire 1 and so on all the way through to pin 44 matching to wire 44

We are now (after many requests), sourcing an "economical manufacturer" of Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs)
who will be able to supply these boards in acceptably priced quantities and at a reasonable price to the
global market. We hope to have this finalised before July 10th 2004. This also will depend on how many orders
are requested. Not enough orders = we cannot proceed .
