The above simple circuit is to be used to control several relays that will do all the "hard work" as in heavy current switching.
It is advised to select a relay that is rated larger in current carrying capacity than you actually need for long term reliability.
Please note that the relays are directly switched via the switches within the joystick, this concept was chosen for simplicity.
For relays that require currents over 50 milliAmps, please use "circuit 2" utilising transistors to perform the switching of the relays.

The above simple transistorised circuit is to be used to control several relays that will do all the "hard work" as in heavy current switching.
It is advised to select a relay that is rated larger in current carrying capacity than you actually need for long term reliability.
Please note that the relays are directly switched via the transistors Q1 - Q8 on a PCB in a circuit box external to the joystick.
This concept was chosen for its utter simplicity being powered by 12 Volts (eg: a Gel cell as used in alarms etc.) Note clamping diodes.
The relays 1 - 8 (ie: if all 8 are used) have on currents around 120 milliAmps thus switching of the relays to handle the current
The above circuit could ( with a little innovation ) be used to control a wheelchair or a similar device with the correct implementation of the
controls on the Mini joystick. We can, for a fee design a circuit that would be excellent to control a wheelchair via this joystick.
We invite you to do your own research, however we can quote you for a circuit Please email Unitech with circuit info and approximate costs and we can put together a design quote for you.
